Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool goes directly to the outside provider that operates it. That company processes the request and supplies its results. Mason County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to answer it. Messages remain within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive basic technical information about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show which pages receive traffic and how visitors move through the site. Analytics providers combine that activity into broader measures. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Mason County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the sheriff, Kentucky courts, Kentucky State Police, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention rules, and sharing practices govern anything submitted through those tools. Review the provider's terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, Kentucky court portals, state agencies, legal-aid resources, and outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's own privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.
Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices protect collected data, but no internet system is completely secure. Safeguards reduce risk; they cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A confirmed minor's information will be deleted.
Your Data Rights
Kentucky consumer-protection law, including KRS Chapter 367, may provide rights or remedies depending on the facts and the visitor's location. Available requests may include the following:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with a new effective date.
